Earth. My way. - version 2.0
You didn't think we would stop at version 1, did you? :). A few minutes ago I have published version 2.0 of Earth. My way.. And boy is it exciting!
We have some cool new features (some of which are really unique) and will give you a lot more flexibility with regards to personalizing your property. So here we go:
1. Background music for your property - see sample (Trinity Church, New York, USA)
2. Streaming live video right on the map - see sample (Times Square, New York, USA)
3. Embedded Flash movies - YouTube, Google Video, etc - see sample (my home in Bucharest, video is Think Different by Apple)
4. Embedded website - zoomable and completely interactive, right there on the map - see sample (Slashdot.org on Mustique island)
5. Embedded computer :) (not really, it's a remote connection to a computer, but you get the idea) - see sample (ReactOS on top of Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, USA)
6. Games playable directly on the map - you can play Chuckie Egg close to Area 51 in Nevada and relax with a bit of PacMan right next to the Statue of Liberty
7. Flash video and webcam interaction - slightly experimental, a "mirror" application is here. (You will need a webcam)
Another exciting change is our implementation of "avatars". When browsing around the map you will notice tiny national flags moving around. Those flags indicate real time locations of other users browsing the site at the same time. Feel free to follow them and see where they're going :).
We also have a 70% completed implementation of moving items on the map (think cars driving on streets, planes flying over landmarks, etc). It should pop up in the next version. Also on the pipe is a user-to-user chat function so that you can talk to your fellow avatars and discuss what you're seeing.
And last but not least, I hope you'll like the new design. It's a lot nicer and far easier to navigate.
Enjoy!
